Campbell County Civil Docket Searches
The free Campbell Online Court Records System is the first online channel for indexed Circuit Court and General Sessions civil matters. Its form accepts Party Name, Case Year, Case Number, Court Type, and Case Type. Select at least one court, keep Civil checked, and complete the Turnstile challenge before choosing Find Now. A full first and last name works best. Search Help says a name or reference can be entered without a year. For a formatted reference such as 99GS1-2023-CR-12345, enter only 12345 in Case Number.
Venue comes first. Probate, adoption, guardianship, many domestic matters, injunctions, and other Chancery work belong with Dennis Potter, Clerk and Master. The public form has no Chancery or probate checkbox. Bobby W. Vann's office serves Circuit and General Sessions. Search results are an index, not the official clerk record, so confirm a judgment or current setting with its custodian.
- Identify Circuit, General Sessions, or Chancery as the likely venue.
- Search by full party name or by year and final numeric case reference.
- Select the court type and Civil, then pass Turnstile.
- Compare court, parties, year, and latest setting before relying on a match.
- Ask the proper clerk for the exact plain or certified document needed.
Campbell Civil Courts Split
Civil jurisdiction in Campbell County is divided. Circuit Court has broad civil jurisdiction and receives lower-court appeals. General Sessions handles a limited set of civil claims, although the county sources do not publish one current monetary-limit chart. Chancery Court covers an extensive civil group that includes injunctions, contract disputes, divorce, delinquent property tax, name changes, adoption, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, workers' compensation, and real-property matters.
Both clerk channels use the courthouse at 570 Main Street in Jacksboro, but Chancery is listed in Suite 110. That shared address can mask separate custody. Call the Circuit Clerk at 423-562-0296 for Circuit civil records. Contact the Clerk and Master at 423-562-3496 for Chancery and probate. The Campbell County Chancery page identifies its services and official fee route. Neither office should be confused with the County Clerk, whose functions do not include custody of these court dockets.
The official Chancery source shows how the Clerk and Master presents that separate civil channel.
This source image reinforces why Chancery and probate searches should go to Suite 110 instead of stopping at the county portal.
Civil Dockets: What They Show
A Campbell County civil docket is a chronology, not a folder containing every document. A useful entry may identify the court, case reference, filing date, parties, counsel, judge, status, event, setting, order, disposition, or cost. The county's live detail fields could not be verified because Turnstile blocked inspection. Field names may therefore differ. Read each item by date and ask for the underlying filing when its exact text matters.
| Case reference | Local identifier; enter the final numeric portion in the county form. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, or respondent as the case requires. |
| Filings | Complaint, petition, answer, service return, notice, or other submitted item. |
| Motions and settings | Requests awaiting action plus hearing or trial dates. |
| Outcome | Judgment, final decree, dismissal, settlement, withdrawal, or appeal event. |
Campbell's FY2024 Civil Numbers
The Tennessee Judiciary's FY2024 report counted 149 Campbell County Circuit Civil filings and 157 dispositions. Damages and torts formed the largest filing group at 43. Other reported filings included 17 divorces without minor children, 17 miscellaneous general civil matters, 14 adoptions or surrenders, 12 administrative appeals, 11 residential parenting or child-support matters, and 10 contract, debt, or specific-performance cases.
Those figures describe one report year and one docket layer. They do not state the current pending count, predict delay, or capture all General Sessions and Chancery work. The disposition table recorded 53 dismissals, 43 court-approved settlements, 34 settlements without a hearing, 16 other outcomes, three nonjury trials, three uncontested or default outcomes, and five withdrawals. No jury-trial count appeared in that Campbell row.
Campbell County Civil Case Types
The record type often points to the clerk. Circuit's reported civil work includes tort, debt, domestic, adoption, administrative-review, protection-order, and lower-court appeal categories. Chancery's published services add probate, estates, tax, property, guardianship, conservatorship, and equitable remedies such as injunctions. General Sessions supplies its own limited civil docket.
- Contract, debt, damages, tort, and specific-performance claims
- Divorce, parenting, child support, adoption, and protection orders
- Property, tax, injunction, and administrative-review matters
- Probate, estates, guardianship, and conservatorship in Chancery
- Limited civil cases and later appeals from General Sessions
Campbell Portal Gaps Matter
A no-result screen does not prove that no civil record exists. The exposed Campbell County form offers only Circuit Court and General Sessions, then Criminal and Civil case-type boxes. It does not offer Chancery, probate, juvenile, municipal, or a dedicated domestic-relations choice. Turnstile can also prevent a search before the index is queried. A challenge failure is an access problem, not a finding that the case is absent.
Check spelling, remove excess terms, confirm the original filing year, and test the final numeric case portion. Search Help says only the first ten words of a name or reference are considered. Results display 25 rows per page and are capped at 2,500. If the likely venue is absent, stop changing filters and call the custodian. The Campbell County docket search explains those controls in more depth.
Hearings on Campbell Civil Dockets
A Campbell County civil docket may list motion hearings, scheduling events, nonjury trials, trial settings, settlement activity, and entry of a judgment or decree. Read the newest dated event. An old setting can remain in the history after the court moves it, and a settlement report does not by itself show that a signed order closed the case. The clerk's current record and latest signed order carry more weight than an old calendar view.
Start with the latest summons, notice, or order, compare it with the case index, and use the official clerk calendar when it displays the matter. Call the proper civil clerk if two dates conflict. Ask for the next active setting, its type, and whether the prior date was continued or disposed. Party agreement alone does not prove that the court approved a reset.
Campbell Civil Copies and Fees
The docket index helps identify a file, but a printout is not a certified judgment. Ask for the exact complaint, order, judgment, final decree, service return, parenting plan, will, inventory, or other document. State whether a plain copy is enough or whether the receiving office requires certification. That detail lets the clerk quote the right cost and avoids paying for pages that do not answer the request.
The Clerk and Master's published schedule lists copies at $0.50 per page, certification at $5, a computer search at $7, and a continuance at $7. Category filing fees also apply. The Campbell County Chancery page says its fee information took effect January 1, 2026 and was updated August 19, 2026. Confirm the current total before paying because a schedule may not reflect every case-specific charge. Bobby Vann's civil fee guide separately covers the Circuit Clerk channel and its accepted payment methods.
The clerk's official fee page provides the best visual check of that Circuit civil route.
The image is a navigation aid; the clerk should still quote the current total for the exact filing or copy.
Campbell Civil Outcome Terms
Outcome labels are not interchangeable. A dismissal ends a claim or case through a court event or order. A withdrawal shows that a filing or matter was pulled back. An uncontested or default result usually means no effective opposition was presented, subject to the governing rules. A settlement records agreement between parties, but the Campbell County FY2024 report separates compromise without hearing from court-approved settlement. A final judgment or final decree is the court-entered resolution.
- Service
- Formal delivery of process or notice, often shown by a return or proof.
- Counterclaim
- A responsive claim brought by another party in the same civil case.
- Disposition
- The event or outcome that resolves all or part of the matter.
- Notice of appeal
- A filing that begins review of a trial-court judgment.
Campbell County has not published a complete dictionary of local portal abbreviations. Do not guess at an unfamiliar short code. Give the clerk the case reference, event date, and displayed text, then ask what document or order supports it.
Campbell Certified Decree Requests
When a bank, agency, title office, or another court asks for a decree or judgment, first learn whether it wants a plain copy or a clerk-certified copy. Give the Campbell County clerk the court, case reference, party names, approximate year, and exact document title. Ask how many pages the item contains, whether certification is available, what the copy and mail charges are, and which payment methods the office accepts.
For Circuit matters, Bobby W. Vann's office publishes weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Campbell County Courthouse. For Chancery matters, Dennis Potter's office is in Suite 110 at the same street address and uses P.O. Box 182 for mail. County offices may alter hours due to staffing, so call before travel. A portal screen can help locate the case, but only the maintaining clerk can authenticate the requested court record.
Who Can See Civil Dockets
Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 supplies the main court-record access framework. Public access is broad, but it does not override a sealing order, confidentiality law, protected personal data, or limits placed on a particular file. Juvenile, adoption, and some domestic or medical material can require special handling. A record may also be open at the counter but absent from an online index.
For inspection or copies, route the request to the clerk who maintains the case. Tennessee's public-records process may require a specific request and proof of Tennessee citizenship. Ask for the public portion if part of a file is restricted, and request a written basis if access is denied. Do not confuse the county historical-records coordinator with the live court custodian.
